Portland: Loretta G. Ayotte, 91, of Portland passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at the Barron Center in Portland. She was born in Van Buren on May 23,1920 a daughter of the late Edward and Marie (Labelle) Tardif. Loretta attended and graduated from Van Buren's school system. She married Henry Ayotte in 1942 and they spent 59 wonderful years of marriage together before his passing in 2001.
Loretta had many hobbies but mostly enjoyed quilting and made all of her grandchildren a special quilt. Throughout her working career Loretta was a stitcher and a presser, retiring from Healthtex along with being a homemaker.
Together they enjoyed their camping trips, fishing expeditions and their cribbage games. They always looked forward to a new adventure, visiting Kentucky and their 3 month trip to Alaska where Loretta canned 19 cases of salmon. She traveled to Georgia to see her grandson, Lewis, get married...her age never kept her from doing the things she loved doing for family. Loretta always enjoyed being around her children and grandchildren, always cooking Sunday dinner for them and just loved the holidays where her family would gather.
Loretta was predeceased by many siblings.
She is survived by her two children: Lewis Ayotte and his wife Mary of Saco; Carol Pedley and her husband Thomas of Standish; two sisters: Christine Philbrick of Presque Isle and Theresa Reffett of Winchester, KY; 4 grandchildren: Lewis Ayotte Jr and his wife Kati, Bonnie Brann, Michael Brann and his wife April and David Brann, 5 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
