Marie Antoinette Roy White, 85, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2022 at the Casco Residential Inn. Marie was known as Toni to her dear friends, and to her family, she was Mom, Nana, and Aunt/Ma tante Toni. She was born on December 4, 1936 in Upper Frenchville, Maine, the youngest daughter of Celina Dubois Roy and Denis Roy. Her family moved to Waterville when she was 4 years old. They were members of Saint Francis DeSales Church. Toni attended Mt. Merici High School.
In 1961, Toni married Raymond P. White, Jr. They eventually settled in Westbrook where they raised their two children. Toni was a member of several fraternal organizations. She attained the honors of Past Queen of the Daughters of the Nile. She was also a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star. In 2015, Toni was honored for her service for over 50 years in this organization which included Past Worthy Matron of Mizpah Chapter #3, Order of the Eastern Star and Past Worthy Matron of Beulah Chapter #5, Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Westbrook.
Mrs. White and her late husband were members of the United Commercial Travelers of the Portland Council. She was a Past Senior Counselor of the UCT and was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Portland. She worked for H.P. Hood in Portland. After working at Hood for many years, she then became employed by Maine Rubber International, in Westbrook, where she eventually retired.Toni’s pastimes included snowmobiling, camping and boating with her late husband and family. Toni also enjoyed traveling with her companion, Hal. She was a devoted Mom and Nana to her children, grandchildren and great granddaughters. Her life revolved around them! Toni was the matriarch of the White family! She will be greatly missed!
Mrs. White was predeceased by her beloved husband, Raymond P. White, Jr., her son-in-law, Earl McCarthy and her 5 sisters and 3 brothers, Leona Daigle, Sadie Ouellette, Annette Roy, Madeline Veilleux, Jeanette Vigue, Ferdinand Roy, Joseph Roy, and Raoul Roy.
Toni is survived by her son, Raymond P. White, III, his wife Lou Ann, of Naples, her daughter, Deborah McCarthy, her fiancé Michael Cross of No. Waterboro, and Toni’s domestic partner of 15 years, Hal DeSilva of Oregon. She is also survived by five loving grandchildren, Brittany Levasseur, her husband, Nick, Brandon White, his wife, Stephanie, Patrick McCarthy, his wife, Brittany, Shawn McCarthy, his wife, Tori, and Brianna White. She leaves 3 great granddaughters, Isla Rae, Halle Emma, and Maeve Ophelia.
Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Friday, November 11, 2022 from 4-7 PM at Jones, Rich and Barnes Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St. Portland. A funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022 at the Funeral Home. There will be a graveside service at Brooklawn Memorial Park, Portland, immediately after the funeral.
