

Phyllis was born in Portland on July 29, 1918 to George and Mary (McGahey) Crangle. She attended local schools and in her younger years was part of a Vaudeville act which toured the country. She and her husband where known as “Don and Betty Phillips”. They were part of a singing and dancing act that worked with the likes of Burt Lancaster.
Phyllis and her husband eventually settled back down in Maine and began a family. She became a full-time mother, caretaker and wife. She continued to keep herself active in local theater, and was an avid Celtics and Patriots fan.
Above all Phyllis loved spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed by all that knew her.
Predeceasing Phyllis was her husband Phillip Hatch Sr. in 1971, and her siblings Helen and James.
Surviving are her children; Phillip Hatch Jr. of Portland, Lewis Hatch of Gorham, Margery Hatch of Auburn, Mary Lou Moore of Wilmington, NY, and Kenneth Hatch and his wife Cynthia of Ft. Myers, FL. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 1 great, great-child.
Family and friends are invited to a period of visitation to be held Monday, July 28, 2014 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St. Portland, ME; where a funeral service will be held following visitation at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Portland.
