

Phyllis Ricchio, 88 passed away Tuesday, October 29th, 2013 with her family by her side after a brief illness. Phyllis was born in Bethel on February 11, 1925, the daughter of Earle and Doris Grover Eldredge. She graduated from Hall-Dale High School and went on to work at the shipyard in South Portland, during World War II. She married Samuel Ricchio in 1951 and they lived on Hammond Street and raised two sons, Joe and John. Phyllis was employed at Mercy Hospital at this time where she later retired from in 1984. She will forever be remembered for her care giving skills. Phyllis was an extremely sweet lady who loved quilting and was known for her attention to detail. Although she suffered from memory loss for the past two years, she always recognized her family and greeted each with her trademark, “Hi There.”
She is survived by her two sons, Joseph and his wife Linda, of Yarmouth, and John and his
wife Denise of Portland, a grandson Joseph Ricchio of Boston and a granddaughter, Lisa Ricchio
of South Portland, a sister –in-law, Helen Pitts of South Portland, a brother-in- law Tom Caron,
of Portland, and several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband, Sam who passed away in 2005,
four brothers, Earl, Vernon, Harry, and Donald, and a sister Shirley.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at Fallbrook Woods,
in Portland for the love and care they extended to Phyllis, especially in her last few weeks.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Friday November 1, 2013 from 5 to 7 P.M. at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home 199 Woodford St. Portland, Maine. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday November 2 at 9:00 A.M. in the St. Peters Roman Catholic Church with Father Michael Seavey as Celebrant.
