We are brought great comfort that she is reunited in this next life with her late father, Evangelos "Angelo" Gudis (3/24/1955-1/3/2011). The profound impact of his passing deeply shaped her sense of purpose and calling, and in honoring his memory, she was inspired to pursue medicine. In 2011, she graduated from Simmons University in Boston, and went on to work at the Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor, ME before pursuing her medical education at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, where she earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree in 2019. She completed her residency in Family Medicine from Carepoint Health, Christ Hospital in Jersey City, NJ, following which she joined Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, MA as a full time hospitalist. She was deeply committed to her work, demonstrating an unwavering dedication to her patients and providing them with the best care possible. She was deeply respected by her peers and patients for her compassion, dedication, and the genuine kindness she brought to her profession, which also brought immense pride to her family and friends.
Outside of her profession, Polyxeni treasured caring for the people closest to her and was always devoted to supporting and taking care of her family and friends in both big and small ways. She found great joy in traveling, especially on trips to visit family in Greece, where lounging on the beach brought her peace, happiness, and cherished memories with those she loved most. She was an avid dog lover whose affection for animals was evident to all who knew her. Her beloved dog, Bailey, brought her great comfort, companionship, and joy. Known as the "life of the party", Polyxeni loved to dance and brought laughter, energy, and warmth wherever she went. Her vibrant spirit, singular sense of humor and joyful presence left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
She is survived by her beloved mother, Anna; her cherished Yiayia, Sofia; her loving partner of 7 years, Matthew; her brother, Sotirios; and, countless extended family, friends, and colleagues.
We will forever hold Polyxeni in our hearts and remember her with deep love and affection. Αἰωνία ἡ μνήμη.
Friends and family are invited to A Time of Visitation on Monday May 25 from 11 AM to 12 PM followed by a Memorial Service at 12 PM at Jones, Rich and Barnes Funeral Home 199 Woodford Street Portland, Me.
