Born on November 19, 1935 in Portland, ME, he was a lifelong resident until moving to Scarborough. Buddy graduated from Deering High School in Portland in 1953. He was the son of Marion Taylor and Carleton White. Buddy married Joyce Dulac on June 13, 1959 and they shared over 60 years of marriage raising three children and welcoming five grandchildren.
Buddy was a running back for the football team at Deering High School and then went on to play football all four years at The University of Maine Orono graduating in 1961, where he was also a member of Kappa Sigma. He was a Black Bear through and through and could always be counted on to sing the Maine Stein song at any social gathering, wedding or party. Buddy enlisted in the Army in 1954 and served in Korea. Later he taught Health Education at Thornton Academy in Saco, Deering High School (his alma mater), and Lincoln Middle School. In addition to teaching, he taught Drivers Education during his summers off and also worked as a salesman for Lipton Tea and Proctor and Gamble. After retiring, Buddy worked for many years running the campus bookstore at Cheverus High School. His most loved hobby when he was a teacher was coaching baseball and football and was an avid Red Sox and Patriot’s fan.
Buddy enjoyed winters skiing at Saddleback Mountain and many summers were spent renting camps on Sebago Lake with family members and friends. After retirement he enjoyed spending time during the winter in Pompano Beach and Fort Myers, Florida. In the summer he could always be found at Pine Point Beach or Higgins Beach with his wife Joyce. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and rarely missed one of their respective sporting events including football, baseball, soccer, field hockey, and ice hockey.
Buddy was predeceased by his wife, Joyce, his mother Marion Taylor, his father Carleton White, and his sister Carlene Pingree.
He is survived by his three children, Karen Connick and husband George (Joe) of Westbrook, Randy White and wife Debra of Scarborough, Denise Joyce and husband Jay of Raymond. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, Joel Connick, Jason Connick, Janessa White, Reilley Joyce and Ryan Joyce. He is also survived by many special nieces and nephews.
