He was born in Portsmouth, N.H., the son of Lincoln and Addie (Wilson) Hanscom. Robert retired as a machinist at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golf.
Robert is survived by his sons, Robert M. Hanscom of Shapleigh, Gregory F. Hanscom of Shapleigh, and Jeffrey H. and wife Denise Hanscom of Long Island, N.Y.; seven grandchildren, Lori, Robert, Patrick, Kara, Kristin, Stanley, and Taylor Grace; seven great grandchildren, Madison, Brooke, Savanna, Robbie, Sara, Katelyn, and Jonathan; and a sister Shirley Finn.
In addition to his parents, Robert was predeceased by his wife of 60 years Evelyn L. Hanscom, and his three brothers, Lincoln, Maurice, and David.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 27, 2016, at 11 a.m., at Harmony Grove Cemetery in Portsmouth, N.H.
