

Windham- Russell E. Carson, 74, of Windham, former longtime resident of Primrose Lane in Portland, passed away on October 5, 2017 at Maine Medical Center. He was born in New Sharon, ME, a son of Alwin and Maxine (Parlin) Carson. After graduating from New Sharon High School, he married his high school sweetheart, Sandra Campbell of Phillips, ME. He went on to graduate from the National School of Meat Cutting in Toledo, OH. He began his career as a meat department manager at Bryant's IGA in Bethel, ME. He later worked at Kirschner where he was a sales manager. He continued his career at Thorn Apple Valley and Acosta. He had a longtime affiliation with Hannaford Bros. which he valued greatly.
His passion in life was golf and played in the Hannaford League and any other opportunity to play.
He was an avid sports fan and loved all New England teams. He loved to garden and especially enjoyed planting flowers at their home in Portland. He and Sandra enjoyed watching the birds on their back deck, making sure the birds were fed during the winter. He religiously took longs walks with his best friend, Dixie, and would return with stories of their adventures.
He was pre-deceased by his brother, Randall Carson; aunt, Marie St. Amand.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sandra Carson; daughters, Tami Arsenault and her husband Greg; Teri Rapaport and her husband Bruce; granddaughter, Chelsi Casey; grand-dogs, Dixie and Lola; nephews, Troy and Todd Carson; and a large extended family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Spring Meadows Golf Course, 59 Lewiston Rd., Gray, on Friday, October 13, 2017. Please join us between 3pm and 6pm for dinner and drinks.
