

New Gloucester- Sarah (Sally) Parker widow of Miles R. Parker passed away peacefully on January 29, 2011 after a brief illness. Born on June 6, 1926, in Brighton MA. She was the daughter of George B. and Muriel Riley Fahey. Following the death of her father in 1931 she was raised by her father’s sisters in Lewiston. She was a graduate of Lewiston High School and the Maine School of Commerce. She married Miles (Bud) Parker in 1950 and the couple moved to Greene where Mr. Parker was the third generation owner of Glenrock Spring. He died in 1998.
For several years she was employed in the news department of the Lewiston Sun Journal, later moving to Portland where she worked for the Portland Press Herald. She was the first executive secretary of the Keep Maine Scenic Committee when it was formed in 1964.
She was employed by the USDA, the Dept. of Housing & Urban Development in Florida and at the time of her retirement was a legal clerk for the Office of Hearings and Appeals in Portland.
Before his retirement her husband owned and operated an antique shop in Portland. Her interests included gardening, cooking, glass painting and rug hooking. Sally was an active member of the Tin Peddlers. She and her husband enjoyed traveling to St. Croix and Ireland.
Survivors include two sons, Miles Parker of Munich, Germany, and Daniel Parker of New York City, two daughters, Diane (Della) Parker of Falmouth, and her partner, Pat Pinto and their daughter Tammy, Sara Parker Denton, and her husband K.C. Denton III of Gray, a brother, George B. Fahey of Westbrook and a sister, Theresa Fahey Durost of Portland and many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation, Thursday, February 3, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home 199 Woodford St.
Prayers will be recited Friday, February 4, 2011 at 10:15 am at the funeral home to be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 11 am. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
