

Sybil was born in Dorchester, Massachusetts, on March 3, 1931, and graduated from Dorchester High School. Sybil was a wonderful, gentle mother who loved and cared deeply for her family. She also had many friends and was a well-loved member of the community in Needham, Massachusetts, where she lived for 65 years.
Sybil was a volunteer at the Needham Community Council in Needham, Massachusetts for over 30 years. She began volunteering in 1984 as a Friendly Visitor, then as Co-Chair of the Council’s Clothes Closet thrift store. Sybil won the Council’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 1991 and was an Honorary Lifetime Board Member.
Sybil was predeceased by her daughter, Nancy (Burke), and is survived by her son, Andrew Bower, daughter-in-law, Heide, and grandchildren Kurt, Anja, and Erin of Portland, Maine, and her son-in-law, William Burke Jr., of Leominster, MA.
Sybil’s services will be private for immediate family members only. The family wishes to thank her close friends who helped care for her over the past few years. Friends wishing to honor Sybil are invited to make a donation in her name to their local community council that helps people in need.
