

Portland- Walter Daniel Tuttle passed away Friday August 22nd, 2014 at Maine Medical after a brief illness. He was the seventh child of eleven born to Edward and Florence Downey Tuttle on January 26th 1932. He attended Cheverus High School in Portland and completed his education at Fordham University with BA in English. He enlisted in the Air Force during the Korean War. After his service he worked his way up from the mail room to Executive Branch Manager at IBM. Walter, a hard worker, was still working at Direct Mail of Maine in Scarborough a few days before he died. He loved his family and friends, his books, his two cats, his home on Peaks Island and tending to his rock walls and gardens.
He is survived by his former wife Patricia Gribbin Tuttle of Beverly MA, his five children- son Scott Tuttle and wife Debbie of Rochester NY, daughter Karen Newcomb of Rochester NY, son Randall Tuttle and companion Catherine Ryder of Portland ME, daughter Claudia Dunigan and husband Jay of Londonderry NH, son Christopher Tuttle and wife Tracy of Beverly MA. His eleven grandchildren,Ryan,Travis and Kyle Tuttle of Rochester NY, Lindsay Natoli of Charlotte NC, Kaitlyn and Lauren Tuttle of Portland ME, Jake Dunigan of Groton CT, Patrick Dunigan of Manchester NH and Abby Dunigan of Londonderry NH, Tyler and Celia Tuttle of Beverly MA and one great grandson Leo Tuttle of Rochester NY. His siblings Geraldine Tuttle Cole of Portland ME, Peggy Lopez of Portland ME, Shamus Tuttle of CA, Ronny Tuttle and wife Sharla of Rochester NH and Michael Tuttle of CT, also survived by his dear friend of many years Delores Kelly of Alexandria VA.
He was predeceased by his wife Jane Dustin Tuttle of Peaks Island, his two sisters Winnifred Nielson of Bangor and Dolly LaPierre of Portland, his three brothers Edward Tuttle of Portland, Daniel Tuttle of Cape Elizabeth and Gerald Tuttle of Portland.
Friends and Family are invited to attend a time of visitation from 4 to 7pm Thursday August 28th 2014 at Jones Rich and Hutchins Funeral Home 199 Woodford St. Portland, Maine.
