

William D. Stroud Jr, 85, of Scarborough, passed away at Maine Medical Center on Wednesday, December 7, 2011. He was born April 29, 1926 in Watertown Massachusetts a son of the late William D. and Georgette (Couper) Stroud.
William and his family moved to Maine when he was a young boy and he attended Falmouth Schools, graduating from Falmouth High School. He then went on to become a Merchant Marine.
He worked for the City of Portland as a dog Catcher for many years, creating the program. William enjoyed gardening, fishing, bird watching and breeding cocker spaniels at Lorbill's Kennel with his wife Lorraine. He also enjoyed time with his family, the pool and cookouts.
He is survived by his companion of 26 years Geraldine Clough of Portland and her family, Doreen Dobson and her fiancé' Ted Bennet of Windham, Rev. Christopher Dobson of Portland, Caro Farmer and her fiancé Herb Reno of Phippsburg, and William Clough and his wife Heidi of Falmouth; his sister Sandra Snow and her husband David of Falmouth; He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews.
William was predeceased by his wife Lorraine in 1986, and his brother John Stroud.
Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation from 10- 11 am Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home 199 Woodford St., and Portland where a Memorial Service will be held at 11 am.
