
Adeline Marjorie Miller (nee Henne) was born in Alfred, North Dakota and died in Canby, Oregon days after her 91st birthday. First married at 15, (She outlived Henry Klundt, Martin Lockard, Jerry Miller and Dave Taylor.). She raised six children while working and going to college, attaining her RN degree in Pasco, Washington in 1963.
Her life spanned many states, and several countries. She worked in the tool room for B-25s in Colorado during WWII (Rosie the Riveter?), went back to North Dakota, working as a waitress, moved to Minnesota working at various jobs, and then to Washington state where she worked as a first aid nurse during the construction of Lower Monumental Dam on the Snake River.
She finally moved to Oregon in 1968. She worked her way up to head of the Admissions Department at University Hospital in Portland, where she retired in 1990. She taught nursing in Viet Nam during the Viet Nam war while her husband, Jerry Miller, worked in that country. She traveled worldwide, collecting mementos along the way. A loving mother and grandmother, she made life fun for all of her family, scattered from the west coast to Utah and Texas.
She is survived by her children, Sheila Lehto of Oregon City, Oregon, Randy Klundt of Sinton,Texas, Douglas Lockard (Mary Lou) of Sammamish, Washington, Bill Lockard (Rose) of Warren, Oregon, Marjorie Sloan of Woodburn, Oregon and David Lockard of Carver, Oregon, step children Lorraine Horzynek (Dolphi) of The Dalles, Oregon, Kathy Nock of Selah, Washington, Kenny Miller of California, Pat Grant (Dave) of Whitefish, Montana and Charley Taylor of Portland, Oregon. as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter,. (She virtually created her own private nation.)
A Celebration of Life will be held in Woodburn, Oregon at the Woodburn Christian Church, 126 N. Workman Drive, 503-981 9423 on March 4th from 1pm to 4pm. The family suggests donations to the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Foundation, PO Box 1950, Clarksburg, MD 20871-1950.
