Alan died peacefully at his home, with his loving family by his side. He was born to Ted R. Matthews and Lora J. Matthews of Portland. He is survived by his brothers, Richard W. Matthews and Steve D. Matthews; four nieces; and one nephew. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, February 3, 2014, at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, followed by military honors in Willamette National Cemetery.
