March 10, 1952 - December 3, 2020
Known as Buddy, Allan passed away December 3rd, 2020. He is at peace and will spend all of eternity in heaven with his wife Jackie, who passed on May 3rd.
Born in Seattle, Wash. to Robert and Frances Carmody, he graduated from Glacier High School in Seattle. He first attended Highline Community College and then the University of Portland where he was a competitive cross country runner and part of the music program. He worked on an advanced degree at the University of Oregon. His cover rock band, Shades of Light, led him to many cool concerts. He played electric bass and acoustic guitar. He noted that all the best composers played violin or piano and encouraged his descendants to choose an instrument, learn music theory and sing.
In 1975 he married Jackie Baxter. They met at sophomore orientation, or so they thought, but after 10 years of marriage they discovered that they were sitting next to each other in a photo of their vacation Bible class at age 5. He met his future wife at vacation Bible school!
For their honeymoon they drove around the country through 23 states visiting friends and relatives in Kentucky, Virginia, and Montana.
After one year in Seattle they set off on their adventure and lived in Glendale, Ore., Roseburg, Ore., Lynnwood, Wash., Edmonds, Wash., Milwaukie, Ore., Portland, Ore., Aloha, Ore., Beaverton, Ore., and Gresham, Ore.
In southern Oregon, he was a K-12 music teacher, and a track and field coach. After Roseburg, he became a businessman and was commanded to go by Allan for the first time in his life. He started in sales, then moved into networking, ultimately creating his own business broker corporation. He was a member of the Gresham Chamber of Commerce and the West Columbia Gorge Chamber of Commerce. He was the Founding member and President Emeritus of The Professional Referral Organization of Portland, Oregon (www.proportland.com). Allan and Jackie were members of Beaverton Christian Church.
He enjoyed golf; music; rehabilitating stray cats; trivia; clean dad jokes; studying history and the Civil War; collecting ties, politics and storytelling. He read the bible everyday and prayed, but he also had about 10 interesting books he was reading at any one time and had an extensive personal library and made heavy use of his library cards.
Buddy was loved by everyone. He loved his family and he loved The Lord.
