

Alvina passed away peacefully on January 20, 2012, in her Adult Care Home where she lived for four years. She was born in Williston, North, Dakota to Alec and Ida Fedorenko. She married Harold Brown in Williston in 1938 and lived a few years in Walla Walla WA. where their daughter Carol was born. They moved to Portland, OR. to work in the Shipyards and remained in Portland permanently. Alvina was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who will be remembered and loved by many. She had many interests in her everyday life. Alvina loved raising the cucumbers in her garden and making the best pickles to give to everyone. She was also a very talented seamstress who sewed clothing for many friends. Alvina enjoyed her 30 years as a volunteer at Kaiser Hospital in their gift shop. Golf became an interest in Alvina's later years. She became a member of the Heron Lakes Golf Club in Portland. Alvina's main "joy" in life was being around people and helping them in every way. Alvina was preceded in death by Harold, her husband of 64 years. She is survived by her daughter Carol (husband Bill) of Gladstone, OR.; a grandson, Todd (wife Jenny) of Tigard, OR.; a granddaughter, Tanya (husband Tim) of Beaver Creek, OR; four great-grandchildren, Sonja, Calvin, Taylor, and Alena. She also is survived by two cousins, 3 nephews, and 2 nieces. In lieu of flowers, contributions to your local Humane Society are Suggested. A Funeral Service followed by a reception will be held in Skyline Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home on Monday, January 30th, at 1PM.
