Arbel was born to Edgardo and Lydia Espiritu, on August 25, 1964 in the Philippines. He lived in Grosse Pointe, MI; Pasadena, CA; and Lake Oswego, OR.
He is survived by his parents Edgardo and Lydia Espiritu, as well as his daughters, Nicolette (Nikki) Ganjifard and Briana (Bri) Espiritu, son-in-law Mahbodd Ganjifard, and granddaughter, Mila Belen Ganjifard. He is survived by his wife, Tidarat (Krystal) Espiritu. He is also survived by his siblings, Stephanie E. Magsarili (Victor) John B. Espiritu (Maria), and Alan B. Espiritu (Bruce); along with his nieces, nephews, and grandnephew/nieces – Reena, Will, JJ, Elise, Justin, Kaitlin, Ian, Dylan, Amanda, Catherine, Chelsea, Michelle, and John Jr.
Arbel had many roles in his life, from artist to entrepreneur, but his favorite role was being a father and grandfather. He loved nothing more than spending time with his daughters, Nikki and Bri and was always there for them. Arbel doted on his granddaughter, Mila whom he absolutely adored and loved spending time with. His goofiness and kindness lives on through her. They will miss their Dad and Lolo immensely. While Arbel had a nomadic soul he was also their constant and their compass. When life got rough, Arbel provided a bedrock of calm, comfort and clarity. Because of him, Nikki, Bri, and Mila inherited enormous hearts and immense love of family.
Arbel was a friend to everyone. He was always the person you could call for anything at any time, and he will be there for you. As his friends would say, he was always thinking 10 minutes ahead. He enjoyed nature and being outdoors and was always ready for an adventure, never letting life’s challenges hold him back. He loved traveling the world, but his favorite places ranged from Tygh Valley, Cape Lookout on the Oregon Coast and driving down the 101 to Morro Bay.
While Arbel left us far too soon, the impact he had on our family will be felt for years to come. His legacy of love and life will live on with Bri, Nikki, Mahbodd, Mila and his second granddaughter expected in June 2024 who will be named in his honor.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to World Central Kitchen www.wck.org in Arbel’s name in honor of his love for travel, food, and helping others. The family wishes to thank all of those who helped during the past few days. Your support has meant the world to us all.
