

Arlen "Kelly" Vern Gurley, 92, of Prineville, Oregon, passed away on January 12, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 12, 1931, in Aurora, Oregon, to the late George & Pollie Gurley.
Arlen grew up in Molalla, Oregon, where he met the love of his life, Carmen, they later settled in Prineville, OR. They shared a beautiful journey together and were married on August 27, 1955. Arlen and Carmen were blessed with three children, Daryl, Kelly, and Karen. Arlen was a devoted husband and father, and his family meant the world to him.
Arlen proudly served in the Army from 1949 to 1953 and was a dedicated member of his military associations. After his honorable discharge, he embarked on a successful career. Arlen initially worked in a cement plant before finding his true passion in Steel Fabrication, where he dedicated his skills and expertise until his well-deserved retirement. In his later years, Arlen enjoyed working at the guard shop with Les Schwab during his retirement.
Outside of his professional life, Arlen had a variety of hobbies that brought him joy. He was an avid fisherman, a talented builder of trailers, and an all-around handyman. Arlen cherished his family and loved spending time with them, especially during camping trips. He was an enthusiastic water skier and made sure his children had many memorable experiences on the water. Arlen had a strong work ethic and always maintained a positive outlook on life.
Arlen will be deeply missed by his children, Daryl (Colleen), Kelly, and Karen (Dan); grandchildren, Erika Westlind, Dustin Gurley, Brady Gurley, Morgan Gurley, Lindsey Cockreham; great-grandchildren, Hailey, Emma, CJ, Jax, and great-great grandchild Sounder. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carmen M. Gurley.
A memorial service to celebrate Arlen's life will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at 2pm at Ross Hollywood Chapel. Carmen and Arlen will be placed to rest at Willamette National Cemetery with honors on March 18th, 2024.
Arlen Vern Gurley will be remembered as a loving husband and devoted father. His legacy of hard work, dedication, and love for his family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
