

Barbara D. (Burnside) Beck, passed away peacefully in her sleep and quite unexpectedly on February 19, 2025, at Providence Milwaukie Hospital. Barbara was born on September 2nd,1937 in Portland, Oregon, to Parents Ted and Betty Burnside. She had 2 brothers, Jim and Ted who reside in California.
Barbara was a graduate of Franklin High School, and was a talented singer. She showcased her beautiful voice by MC'ing for various organizations throughout Oregon. She was once offered a five-year contract with the Journal Juniors Radio Show, but ended up turning it down. She met her future husband, James W. Beck, at the popular Tick Tock Drive-In, and they were married on August 29, 1958. Together, Jim and Barbara built a family raising three sons: William "Scott" (spouse, Carol) Shawn, and Sheldon all of whom she loved very much.
Barbara was a loving grandmother to three grandchildren: Jason (Elizabeth) of Southern California, Christine of Japan, and Jeremy (Raina) of Portland. She delighted in being a great-grandmother to two great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Bryce, who reside in Southern California.
Barbara held many different jobs throughout her life, ultimately working as Jim's secretary, and also as the secretary of profit sharing for Paulson Investment Company for over 25 years.
Barbara was a member of the Baptist faith. Her trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and God the Father shaped her positive outlook on life, which she shared generously with everyone around her. Barbara and Jim loved to travel together. Some favorite places being a trip to China in the early 70s, and multiple visits over the years to Hawaii, and Mexico. In her spare time, Barbara loved to read and watch movies on TCM. She spent the last 12 years as a loving caregiver to her husband, Jim.
A graveside inurnment for Barbara will be held Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Sunset Hills Memorial Park, 6801 SW Sunset Hwy, Portland, Oregon 97225. Following the graveside will be a Celebration of Life & Reception at 2:30 PM at Finley-Sunset Hills Mortuary - Godiva Room for close family and friends.
