Bette was born and raised in Astoria. She graduated in 1967 and attended numerous colleges. She attained her Registered Nurse certification from Emanuel Hospital School of Nursing in 1972 and started her career in Riverside, CA. Three years later she started working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at UCLA. In 1978 she moved back to Oregon and started in the NICU at OHSU,then retiring from nursing in 2002.
She met her husband, Doug Koski, in 1983. Two years later they were married in Seattle, then repeated vows in a church in Norway while on their honeymoon through 14 countries in Europe. After returning to live in Portland in 1987, they raised their two sons.
Bette greatly enjoyed her passion of her Norwegian heritage through travel, attending local events and being a co-founder of a Norwegian dance group, Norske Runddansere . Bette is survived by her husband Doug, two sons (Erik and Mark), seven nieces and extended family.
