

William (Bill) Samuel Henderson was born, raised, and schooled in Denver, Colorado. He was the fifth child of Cecil and Vera Henderson. Bill lost his Mother at 8 years old to cancer. He served in both the Merchant Marines and Air Force. He married and had 2 daughters. Several years after divorcing, Bill met and married Mary McKay. They were just 5 days short of their 55th wedding anniversary this year.
Bill worked 37 years for the Telephone Company, with the later years in management. After retiring from the phone company, he joined Mary in the antique business. They frequently traveled doing antique shows. Bill was a very kind, caring and humble man. He was a very ambitious and hard worker, building two of his own homes while still employed by the telephone company. He loved to dance, fish, carve wood and even made beautiful furniture. He was loved and respected by many and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Vera; sister, June Lanier; brothers, Ed, Jack and Bob. He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughters, Gwen Henderson and Gloria Hancock (Ken); grandsons, Casey Cortes (Regina), Matthew Hancock (Bandy); granddaughters, Jami Ballie (Bryce), Katie Martin; and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be held January 6, 2026 at 10am at St. Therese Catholic Church - 1260 NE132nd Ave, Portland, OR 97230.
Remembrances in Bill's name may be made to St. Vincent De Paul Society or Meals on Wheels.
