

Bruce was born on July 28, 1952, in Portland, Oregon, to Louis K. Osborn and Joyce Peters. He grew up in Tigard and attended Tigard High School. Following graduation, Bruce proudly served his country in the United States Navy, where he was stationed aboard the USS Midway during the Vietnam War. After his time in the Navy, he continued his service in the National Guard for two years.
Bruce went on to earn an Associate of Arts degree in Computer Science from Portland Community College. He built a long and steady career working at the VA Hospital in Portland, where he remained until his retirement.
In 2005, Bruce purchased a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, beginning a chapter of life filled with adventure, camaraderie, and the open road. He and his wife Kathy spent many happy years riding and traveling together with their friends and the H.O.G. (Harley Owners Group) chapter. Bruce participated in charity rides and took part in escorting the Vietnam Memorial Wall from the California border to Portland—an experience that reflected both his pride in service and his dedication to others.
Bruce is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy; his five stepchildren and their spouses; nine grandchildren; his brothers, Steven and Douglas, and their wives; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Matthew, and his parents.
A service with military honors will be held at Willamette National Cemetery on Monday, April 20th at . A reception will follow at Clackamas Bible Church, 15655 SE Johnson Road, Clackamas, Oregon.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bruce’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Vietnam Veterans of America.
