Carole Jean Plowman passed away peacefully in her sleep April 7, 2024. Her funeral service will be held Thursday, April 25th at 12:30 pm at Skyline Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Carole is survived by her children, Judy Hick, Steven Plowman and Vicki Green; her grandchildren Jennifer Moke, Jamison Gage, Jeffery Plowman, Robert Plowman, Nick Green, and Diana Green: and her seven great grandchildren. Ned Plowman, her husband of 72 years passed away June 5, 2023.
Carole was born April 19, 1931 in Saint Joseph, Missouri to Melvin and Pearl Ward. The family later moved to Omaha, Nebraska. The oldest of five sisters, she graduated from North High School in 1949 and subsequently went to work at the Omaha National Bank where she met her future husband, Ned Plowman. The couple were married on January 23, 1951. They settled in Omaha and started their family with the birth of Judy and Steven. In 1957 the family moved to Portland, Oregon where Vicki was later born. Family was always Carole’s primary concern. She spent the majority of her life as a dedicated homemaker, loving wife and mother. As her children grew, she went to work for the Beaverton School District as the secretary for the Transportation Department and later as a teacher’s aid. She later retired to accompany her husband on his many business trips as a trucking industry representative throughout the US and overseas visiting such areas as Southeast Asia, Australia, The French Riviera and Monaco.
After Ned’s retirement in 1996, the couple wintered in Mesa, Arizona. Avid supporters of the University of Oregon and longtime season ticket holders, fall meant spending weekends in Eugene for home games and several Bowl Games with her family. Her love of life and family will be missed by all.
