Twelve months later her sister, Patricia, was born. Two years later her mother passed away, their father remarried and their brother, Harold, was soon born into that marriage, then taken away and adopted by a fireman family at the age of two. Years later Harold found Catherine and Patty.
Catherine married Ernie Yeager in 1960. They had two little girls, Julie and Elizabeth. She was the first woman in Oregon to take the fertility drug, Clomiphene.
They divorced in 1969, and she was single for nine years, working two jobs (office manager for a large union office, local 1092, and as a cocktail waitress for Lydia’s in Portland). It was at Lydia’s that she met not only her future husband, Herold (Harry) Entenman, but also his son Darrell who worked there. In 1977, Cathy married Harry, “the love of her life”. He was a firefighter and had 3 children Darrell, Denise and Chuck. He adopted Julie & Elizabeth months after they married.
They built two homes in Pleasant Valley where Herold’s family lived for years. These would become their dream and retirement homes. Cathy’s girls blended in with Herold’s family. Cathy and Harry now lived close to his brother, Willy and sister Esther. All living on the property once owned by their parents. It became known as the Entenman compound.
They both retired in 1992. After living in their new home for just over a year, she lost her beloved husband in October 1997. It was just a few weeks after their 20th anniversary. She lived in the house for another eleven years before downsizing to a smaller piece of property and home.
She loved people and marrying into a new, large family was so amazing. She loved her stepchildren, her new sister and brother-in-law plus the extended family. And having them so close was a great experience she cherished. They were able to go on several vacations, including Germany where they had family. Getting grandchildren was incredible and she loved them immensely. Not only getting her own but several from her best friends, Jack & Carole, and Keith & Rosemary. Who also loved her grandchildren as they were their own also. They too, all traveled together often.
She cared for her 100-year-old Aunt Minnie for a time, volunteered for the CASA program for kids and was on her credit union's board of directors. She was honored by J.C. Penney with the Volunteer of the Year Award in 1977.
After Harry passed away, she enjoyed a book club, game group, working out at Curves and going to coffee afterwards with her friends. She also traveled with friends and a group of women that she loved.
She was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at the age of 70 and lived with her daughter Julie for several years and then spent years in a care facility. We are forever grateful to Lidia and her family who took amazing care of her.
Catherine is survived by – Daughters, Julie (Rob) and Elizabeth, Stepchildren, Darrell (Laurie), Denise (Jim), Chuck (Tina), sisters-in-law, Esther & Judy, her beloved grandkids Austin, Hope, Cheryl, Holly, CJ, Stacy, Elishia, Danny, Nick, along with a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
