Charles “Ed” Edward Frey was born May 10, 1936 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Oscar and Elinor Frey. He graduated from Western Hills High School in 1954. After high school he enlisted in the Army, achieving the rank of Specialist. Ed met his wife Dolores while working at a gas station. Dolores lived next door and quickly caught his eye. Their connection was instantaneous and they were married in 1958. Ed will be remembered as a happy go-lucky guy, a jokester and a loyal and dependable companion. He loved vintage cars and spent many years restoring his 1956 Chevy truck. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Ann Frey (Burns); his brother, Paul “Hans” Frey and his brother-in-law, Paul Grupenhoff. He is survived by his daughter, Cathy Frey; his foster-grandson, Jack; his sister, Ellie Grupenhoff; his brother, Ray (Jackie) Frey; his sister-in-law, Carol Frey, and many loving nieces and nephews. A graveside service is scheduled for Oct. 6 at 1:30 pm at Willamette National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions maybe be made to Paul “Hans” Frey Memorial Scholarship of Elder High School.
