Colleen Bon Dexter

Colleen Bon Dexter was born the 6th of 7 children to Jess and Elva Woolsey on December 17, 1929 in Wewoka, Oklahoma. At 9 years old being unable to walk for two years due to polio, with focus and determination she overcame her challenges resuming walking, golfing, tennis, dancing, etc. Colleen graduated from high school in Yuma, Arizona. Continuing her education she earned a two year degree at a business college in Tucson, Arizona. She married Lloyd Waiter (Bud) Fowler on May 12, 1950. They had two beautiful children - Vivian Ann Fowler and Preston Ward Fowler. Colleen’s professional career was administrative work as a legal secretary for General Motors and 12 years with the City of Portland where she retired in 1992. Divorced, she eloped with Ralph Ellsworth Dexter to Las Vegas in August 1990. They were happily married for 20 years until Ralph's passing in August 2000. Colleen had a variety of hobbies and interests including: board and card games, gardening, socializing, dining out, the beach, and traveling to various places including Ireland, England, Hawaii, Alaska, Mexico and taking up piano lessons at the age of 75. She was active at church with Prime Timers, contributing to various charities, a mission trip to the Dominican Republic, a Worthy Matron with Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, an organization serving/raising funds for the Shiner’s Hospital for Children. Colleen was preceded by her husband Ralph, and grandson Ryan. She is survived by her sister Irene Kuhn, her children Ann Fowler and Preston Fowler; Grandchildren Adam Schecter, Dawn Connell, Aaron Fritch, Katie Wehner, Courtney Bell, Amanda Nofziger; 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Beaverton Foursquare Church at 1:00 pm.
