Curtis Robert Dahl, the only child of Fae Beatrice Dahl and Kenneth Oliver Dahl, was born December 6, 1931 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He attended Edina Grade School until age 10 when his family moved to Portland, Oregon for opportunity and health reasons. He graduated from Fernwood Grade School in 1945 and Lincoln High School in 1949. After one year at Oregon State College, where he was associated with Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity, he enlisted in the United States Navy for four years. Upon completion of basic training at Great Lakes, Illinois, and sixteen weeks of Radioman School at Norfolk, Virginia, he was stationed for three years at U.S. Naval District One Communications Center, Boston, Massachusetts. It was here he met fellow sailor Honora Josephine Higuera, who in March 1953 would become his wife for fifty eight years. Discharged from the Navy in November 1954, he and his wife moved to the Lake Oswego area where they resided for fifty two years and raised their three sons, Michael, Anthony, and Peter. This period was interrupted only by a four year employment transfer to Columbus, Mississippi from 1983 to 1987. His employment years were all devoted to Marine and industrial manufacturing in inventory control, purchasing, and plant management. He retired in 2000 and maintained a residence in Lake Oswego through 2025. He was an extensive reader of non-fiction subjects, primarily World War II history, current events, and sports. Other interests included his family’s activities, travel, gardening, and dining out.
He was preceded in death by his son Anthony in 1997 and his wife Honora in 2011. He is survived by sons Michael and Peter, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
