It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Daisy Elizabeth Leonard on July 21, 2025, at the age of 41. Daisy was born on August 14, 1983 in LaGrande, OR. She was a precocious baby and full of fun and adventure all her life. She brought her family and friends great joy.
Daisy lived in Oregon, Texas and most of her younger life in Prescott, Arizona. She attended Arizona State University. She lived the past 19 years in Portland, Oregon. She loved the city and the state, where she really felt at home, and reveled in its green lushness, beauty and diverse cultures.
Daisy knew no boundaries. Always alert to things and people around her, she was kind, compassionate and passionate about injustices she saw in the world. Always curious about natural things, she loved animals, especially her puppies, Augie and Boogie, her kitty, Luna, and her bearded dragon, Walter.
Daisy made lasting friendships, and lots of them. It was often said that if she threw a party it would have to be limited to just a thousand of her closest friends. She could light up a room.
Daisy was a talented artist. She was driven by an instinctive urge to create beauty at an early age. At three years old she was heard to say, after a particularly long and tiring day, before she would consent to go to bed, ‘I just got to paint’. And she did, late at night and barely able to keep her eyes open enough to see.
She loved children and they loved her. She had an uncanny way of being able to connect with them. They were drawn to her and she them. It was wonderful to see children open up to her and delight in her magical powers.
She loved to laugh. She laughed often and laughed well. Her belly laugh was wondrous.
Watching meteor showers; reveling in the joys of the Oregon coast; camping; creating art; solving puzzles at the speed of light, keeping lizards and turtles as pets, Daisy was capable of creating joyous wonder. She was a light whose brilliance was dimmed way too early. We will miss her terribly.
Daisy is survived by father Michael Leonard and step-mother Linda Jackson of New Meadows, ID; siblings, Jackson Leonard and spouse, Andra and children, of Flagstaff, AZ; Tierra Leonard and spouse, Steven Williams and children, of Pullman, WA; step-sister Danielle Jackson and spouse Bob Jansen, and child of Spokane, WA; step-brother Kevin Jackson of Grangeville, ID, and Kathleen Leonard of Phoenix, AZ.
Rest in peace Daisy girl!
No public celebration of life is planned by the family at this time. We do encourage her friends to celebrate her life in a joyful manner and post their tributes to this site. She would like that. So would the family.
