Daniel was born in Weiser, Idaho, to Raymond Vereland and Elsie Pearl Aughey, on September 30, of 1962.
Daniel grew up in Eastern Oregon and went to Burnt River High School in Unity, Oregon.
After high school he joined the Army and went to basic training at Fort Knox, Kentucky and was then stationed at Fort Lewis and in Germany. Daniel served in the Army for four years of active duty and three years of inactive duty. One month before Daniel was to be discharged from inactive service in 1986, he was invovled in a single car accident in Eastern Oregon, between La Grande and Baker, he was 23 years old and spent seven months in the hospital.
Daniel and his family moved to Newport, Oregon, and about three years later the family moved to Hillsboro.
Daniel was a proud member of Arise Church in Hillsboro. It was through his strong faith in God that helped Daniel navigate challenges and persevere through life.
Daniel was an inspiring man with a deep commitment to the Lord, he loved to share his story with others, which he often did, with a printed hand out, containing a short paragraph of his life's story, highlighting his stength and devotion for his faith.
In Daniels own words; "For 33 years, I thought God was elusive, but He is not. I realized you have to find God on His terms. He is patiently waiting for people to turn and follow Him. If you would like God to help you find your lost soul, start by reading just one chapter each day. Then you can continue to read the Bible. It is also good to attend a Bible believing/teaching church like I do. I continue to grow in my relationship with God. The Lord has gvien me hope. Which is why I am handing this to you. I am inviting you to find Jesus for yourself. The Lord is ALWAYS looking to care for, love, and protect, HIS people".
A Burial and Committal Service will be held on January 20, 2026, at 1:00 pm, at Skyline Memorial Gardens Cemetery, located at 4101 NW Skyline Blvd., Portland, Oregon, 97229.
