

David was born in Universal City, Texas on September 16th, 1968 to John Edward and Janis Elaine (Walker) Salisbury. He later moved with his family to Chewelah, WA and then to Oregon City, OR where he attended Mt. Pleasant Elementary School, Gardiner Middle School, and graduated from Oregon City High School in 1986.
David married his high school sweetheart, Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Mark in 1991. They spent years living in Springfield, Portland, and Gresham, OR. They had two daughters, Erika Renée and Amy Jean. They later divorced.
David later fell in love with his now wife, Dusty Ann King. David and Dusty married in Marathon, Florida on April 30th, 2017. They were married by their good friends in a boat out on the ocean. They moved to Vancouver, WA in 2019.
David was a retired union carpenter and dedicated more than 30 years to The United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. He retired as a Senior Superintendent and leaves behind a distinguished career, marked by his grand projects and commitment to the trade. David impressed all with his fearlessness and ability to lead. He was regarded as “Super Dave” by many. David also taught many classes at the Carpenter Center. Notable projects of his include: Gresham High School, Center for Advanced Learning, The Moda Tower, Pioneer Place, The Elizabeth Lofts, and many others.
Family was most important to David and he loved spending time with his girls. David also had a great love for the outdoors and his favorite memories were being out on the river, going fishing, and camping. He enjoyed golfing, skiing, bird watching, listening to good music, spending time at the family’s cabin, and a sunny 65 degree day. David was a proud Christian and attended Crossroads Community Church. David was also a member of East Hill Church. David was a man you could always count on, and he valued those who kept their word. You could call Dave with any question and he would know the answer.
David is survived by his parents, his beloved wife, his daughters; Erika, Taylor, Amy, and Timber, his sons-in-law Ryan, Jesus, and Alex, his grandchildren; Ivy, John Marco, and Aleah, and his brother, Matt. He was a loving husband, father, grandpa, son, brother, uncle, and friend.
David will be remembered most for his full of life spirit, his sense of adventure, his generosity, his charm, his smile, his kind heart, and the love he gave. He left a lasting impact on so many of us and for that, he will never be forgotten.
The celebration of life will be held on Monday, March 17th, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, at Crossroads Community Church (7708 NE 78th St, Vancouver, WA 98662).
