Delbert was born on November 22, 1936 to Charles and Virginia Swanson in Portland, Oregon.
As a lifelong resident of Portland, he graduated from Cleveland High in 1954. He then enlisted into the US Marine Corps and after four years of service, he gained employment at Freightliner Corp. Finishing his career managing the tool room until retiring in 1993 with 33 years.
Delbert is preceded in death by his son, Delbert C Swanson Jr. He is survived by wife, Elaine; sister, Darlene Jewel; children, Theresa Fredericks and Douglas Swanson; and five stepchildren, Dianna, Karen, David, Laura and Michelle. Delbert was the proud Gramps of 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
His charm and wit will be missed by all who knew and love him.
