Della M Rodgers

Sally Rodgers was born on October 14, 1934 to Verne and Ethel Abbott in Cashton, Wisconsin. She passed away on October 23, 2015 in Portland, Oregon. Sally came from a big family. She was the oldest of eight children. Her family moved to Oregon when she was around six years old and she spent a lot of time in Sheridan and Siletz. She married her beloved husband, James, on January 23, 1955. Together they had three children: Gayle, Robert and Steven. Sally was preceded in death by her husband, James and her son, Steven. She is survived by her daughter Gayle Phillips (Daniel Shaffer); son Robert; grandchildren Verla and Jeremy Phillips, Brian Rodgers, and Angie, Allen and Michael Tingue; brothers Loyd, John, Donald and Earl Abbott; sisters Lila Foster, Verna Abbott and Mary Harding; seven great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews. Sally loved a good love story along with reading and writing poetry. She was quite the romantic. In her younger days, Sally enjoyed crocheting. She was someone that would often try out new hobbies for a while; some stuck and some she never revisited again. She was a Seventh Day Adventist and gave to many charities throughout her life. She gave to veteran’s organizations, Native American and Appalachian organizations as well as wildlife and nature groups.
