Born on May 18, 1924 in Sisseton, SD, Delores lived an extraordinary life filled with people she loved and things she loved doing. She was fearless, feisty and full of energy. She laughed often and never passed up an opportunity for wine or dessert.
Delores moved to Portland, OR right after high school graduation, where she met her husband Jack at a local dance hall. She could jitterbug with the best of them. Together, Jack and Delores created a beautiful family. Delores is survived by her children: son Mitchell and his wife Cee Cee; daughter Sharon and her husband Leon, and daughter Joanne. Her grandchildren: grandson Jack and his wife Jackie; granddaughters Lisa, Amy and Tina, and grandson Adam and his wife Lindsey. She is also survived by her brother, Dennis and his wife Judy. Her family was the center of her universe and a source of immense pride and amusement.
As a wife, mother and grandmother, Delores instilled the importance of hard work but also that you should look for the fun in everything you do. There wasn’t a birthday, graduation, sporting event, school musical or first haircut in which she wasn’t in attendance. She loved her family unconditionally and encouraged each of them to be themselves and follow their dreams. More importantly, she taught them to appreciate the little things in life; like meals together, watching football on Sunday and chocolate.
A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, March 16th at 2:00 pm at the Lincoln Memorial Chapel located at 11801 SE Mt Scott Blvd in Portland.
Delores would not want her loved ones to grieve her passing long. She would rather they honor her memory by laughing every day, making brave life choices based on hopes and not fears, and never ever forget…to have fun.
