She was born on April 28th, 1943 at Good Samaritan hospital to the extremely proud parents of William “Bill” Eugene LeGore and Dorothy Francis Craig. She graduated from Jefferson High School in the Class of 1961, but she also attended Roosevelt High School. In her younger years, she loved to dance with her friends and go bowling.
She was nicknamed “Cookie” by her brother when she was a little girl due to being “sweet as a cookie.” She lived up to this nickname, always looking out and sticking up for the underdog. She would gladly give someone her last dollar if they needed it.
In 1961, she married the love of her life, Dennis Wade, and together they built a beautiful family and shared 64 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and lifelong memories.
Dorothy cherished yearly trips to Kona Hawaii, where her and Dennis went to spend time with their friends. They would all meet up and go to lunch, lay out on the beach, play games and walk to town. They went every year since the 70’s.
Dorothy had a gift for cooking and baking and was happiest when bringing people together. She especially loved her family’s annual “Baking Day” every December, where she baked her infamous peanut brittle and spent hours decorating sour cream cookies with her grandchildren. The family would prepare large cookie trays to share with friends, neighbors, and loved ones throughout the holiday season. Dorothy also loved hosting family gatherings and holidays, always making everyone feel welcome around her table.
She also had a true green thumb. She could make anything grow and her gardens were beautiful. Her garden was always a pit stop for the golfers at Rock Creek Country Club to say hello and get handfuls of vegetables.
She will be remembered for her warmth, generosity and compassion.
