

Douglas Michael Koehn was born July 29, 1949 to the loving parents of LaVern and Wanda Koehn, who were also founding members of Bethel Baptist Church. He was born at Emanuel Hospital in Portland, Oregon where his mother worked as the Charge Nurse in the Labor and Delivery Ward.
Douglas was the eldest of three children, Kathryn Jackson and Steve Koehn being his younger siblings.
Douglas attended Theodore Roosevelt High School and graduated in 1968. After high school, he went to Vancouver Bible College in Surrey, British Columbia and continued his studies at Ecola Hall Bible Studies in Cannon Beach, Oregon.
Douglas briefly worked at a paper plant "Crown Zellerbach" and a few other small jobs before becoming a school bus driver Laidlaw/First Student, where he worked for 39 years. This is where he met his lifelong friend Kim Super. This friendship peaked his interest in spelunking. Douglas joined the Oregon Grotto Spelinking Group one month after his co-worker bus driver and Friend Kim Super in 1985, and they both went on many caving adventures together.
In 1990, Douglas met his soon to be wife Alisa Bolen, who happened to also be a school bus driver at Bridle Mile Elementary School where they shared a mutual break time waiting for the children to get off the bus. Douglas and Alisa on April 4, 1992 at Bethel Baptist Church.
Alisa soon joined the spelunking adventures underground with the bats in 1992. The three of them, Douglas, Alisa, and Kim, went to several states on these spelunking adventures, including Utah in August 1997, Kona, Hawaii in 1999, and even to different a different country, Vancouver Island Canada.
Douglas and Alisa were married for 33 loving years and had one son Benjamin Michael Koehn, born on September 20, 2003.
Douglas was a car enthusiast, who loved going to car races, air shows, and talking about cars.Douglas also really enjoyed listening to and watching Pastor Dr. David Jeremiah on his computer and sharing what he learned with his friends and family. It was an inspiration to us all.
We will all love and miss him, but we know that Douglas is in Glory with our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ.
