

Ellen was born August 24, 1922 on a wheat farm in Egeland, ND. She was the sixth of eight children born to Elfrieda and Ludwig Klebaum during the dust bowl of the 1930’s. The family moved to Yakima, Wa. Her father died in 1936 and the family moved to Portland Oregon. Ellen graduated from Beaverton High School in 1940. She then attended business school and became a secretary for Union Pacific Railroad.
She met and married John Bradford Hall (Jack) in 1946. Ellen and Jack had 5 children, Mark, Sara, David, Linda and Curt. Curt passed in infancy, and Jack died in 1992. In addition to raising her family, Ellen was active in the Lutheran Church, especially the Lutheran Woman’s Missionary League. Ellen was an avid antique collector specializing in Americana. Ellen enjoyed cooking and gardening, and her Christmas Eve celebrations were glamorous special events. Since 1993 Ellen lived in Beaverton with her eldest son Mark.
Ellen was preceded in death by her seven siblings, Arthur, Luella, Agnes, Edith, Florence, Raymond and Gertrude. She is survived by her children: Mark Hall, Sara Linder (John Linder), David Hall (Bronwen Heilman) and Linda Hastings (Jeffrey Hastings). Her grand children, Johnny Linder, Michael Linder, Dr. Kirsten Linder and Maya Hawk Heilman-Hall, along with her numerous loving nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Ellen will be held Friday, July 21, 2023 at 12:30 PM Zion Lutheran Church, 1015 SW 18th Ave, Portland, OR 97205.
A graveside service will occur Friday, July 21, 2023 at 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Sunset Hills Memorial Park Or, 6801 SW SUNSET HWY, PORTLAND, OR 97225.
A reception will occur Friday, July 21, 2023 from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM at Finley Sunset Hills Mortuary, 6801 SW SUNSET HWY, PORTLAND, OR 97225.
