

Esther Helzer passed away on June 18, 2015. Esther was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin to David and Mary Metzler on September 17, 1917. The family moved to Oregon when Esther was very young. She attended school and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1934. After graduation, Esther attended a business college where she studied classes in the secretary field. Esther worked for paper and automotive supply companies as a Comptroller for many years. She met Ruben Helzer who she later married. Esther and Ruben loved dancing and golfing, but most of all she loved her family. They had one son Charles, who preceded her in death. Esther loved people and always loved to have socials. She will always be remembered as a loving grandmother and centered around her family. Esther was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Charles Helzer, siblings, Emma Hein, Lydia Peterson, Alvina Torrey and Theodore Metzler. She is survived by daughter in law, Janet Helzer of Brush Prairie, Washington, granddaughters, Melinda ( Jim) Leake of Vancouver, Washington, Allison (Terry) VanKoll of Brush Prairie, Washington, great grandchildren, Colton Leake and Caitlyn Leake, Wyatt VanKoll and Bailey VanKoll, nieces, Sheryl (Donald) Lautenschlager, Kimberly Peterson, Patsy Rice and Tedra Stuart.
