September 24th, 1908, Gridley, California ~ October 4, 2011, Portland, Oregon
Ethel passed away peacefully in Portland just a few days after celebrating her 103rd birthday with all five of her children. She was born in Gridley, California, but spent most of her childhood in Gerber, California. In 1926, she married Dee McCroskey in Gerber. In 1935, they went into pastoral ministry, moving the family first to Eugene, OR, and then in 1936 to Portland where they spent the rest of their lives ministering at the Interstate Bible Chapel in Kenton.
Dee preceded Ethel in death in 1991. She is survived by her children, Wayne McCroskey of Tigard, Oregon; Evelyn Malpass of Harrisburg, Oregon; Leonard and Douglas McCroskey of Vancouver, WA; Lois Alvarez of Portland and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She spent the last several years living in North Portland at the Garden Place adult foster care home. Ethel was in apparent good health and with a clear mind until her sudden death but she is now enjoying a much fuller life with her Lord and Savior. A Celebration of Ethel's life is planned for 11am on Saturday, October 8, at the University Park Baptist Church, 4340 N. Lombard Street in Portland. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in Ethel's name to Gospel Tract Distributors.
