

Marie Summers was born on March 23, 1923 to Stacey and Florence Stover in Beckley, West Virginia . Marie met her husband Jim Summers while working at a munitions company in Elkton, Maryland at USO dance during World War II. After they married, they moved to Portland, Oregon surviving the Vanport Flood. Jim was a plasterer and with the help of friends they built the house that they lived in for seventy years. Marie worked for Janzen for about thirty-five years as a Buttons and Labels Sewing Supervisor. Marie loved people. She loved to cook, especially family dinners. She also loved parties, travel, shopping, and the Praise Band at Rose City Park United Methodist Church.
Marie passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 22, 2018. Marie is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Summers, her sister Della Jackson, and brothers Stacey Stover Jr., Herbert Stover, and great-niece Keri Jackson. She is survived by her sister, Virginia Smiley and brother, Eugene "Smokey" Stover, nieces Harret Jackson and Sherry Lind, nephew Check Jackson and great-nephew Chris Jackson.
Donations may be made to Rose City Park United Methodist Church or Hospice Care Northwest.
Memorial Services will be held at Rose City Park United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 2:00pm.
