Our family, Bruno (dad), Florence (mom), Nora (sister-2) and Lisa (sister - 4 months), traveled 3 hours from our home in Valley Stream on Long Island to our extended family farm in Craryville, in the summer of 1953. (We did this to escape the heat/humidity of New York City, and to visit with our cousins, and friends living by in nearby Hillsboro).
I had just received a Roy Rogers pup tent for my 6th birthday, and was trying to set it up in the back yard.  Since it was so windy that day, my best friend, Dana and I needed to drive some tent pegs in the ground to keep the tent from blowing away. We got a hammer to drive the pegs into the ground, but since the grass was so thick we forgot where the pegs were put; so I accidentally kneeled on top of one causing the peg to rip into my knee. Noticing the blood from the wound, Florence immediately  picked me up, yelled at my grandpa to get his car, and together they drove me to a nearby clinic/hospital. After treating the cut, stitching my wound and bandaging me up, we drove back to the farm. 
To this day, when I look at that scar, I recall my mom’s affection during my ordeal!

You are so blessed to have had your mom in your midst for so many years! We get kind of spoiled! The absence is always hard to try to deal with on a day to day basis. I will always be able to recognize a picture of your mom - forever in my heart - a wonderful, sweet lady - always welcoming. May she join Bruno and our parents in Heaven. My condolences to everyone in the family. Question: any chance to get the recipe for the Lithuanian Poppy Seed Bread?? Would LOVE to have that to carry on her memory!!!

Dear Mrs. Moreschi...the first time we met you, we were honored with a hug and a kiss. A hug from Florence is like being  wrapped in the warmest softest blanket ever. You feel at home in her arms. Coming from a family that didn’t hug much, this was a new and comforting experience. How lucky we were to add Mary to the McMenamin family and you & Bruno too. When you meet Florence for the first time, you have a friend for life. Bless you always...with love...Kevin & Carol

Florence was a faithful, God fearing and devoted wife; dedicated and nurturing mother, and a good neighbor to all She knew. She was always available to talk over coffee or bake and distribute loaves of her famous Lithuanian holiday Poppyseed bread to the entire neighborhood (as pictured).

She could really bake!

Mrs. Moreschi brought so much beauty to our neighborhood.   Many years after we all moved away I would run into her, during which time we loved catching up with family news. Her Italian Christmas bread was an annual treat our family relished. 

Never met another person with so much capacity for love. You were an amazing grandmother to all of us!!

I remember the Moreschi family fondly from my early days at Assumption Parish in North Portland. They were a lovely family, and Mrs. Moreschi a devoted mother,  active in the parish. May she rest in peace!

My mother rarely shied away from a challenge!
She loved the beach at Manzanita, Oregon, where she always invited family or friends to come by for a visit and left refreshed and rejuvenated by just being around her.

Florence was preceded in death by her spouse of 58 years, Bruno Moreschi; also with the passing of grandchildren, Carey Moreschi and Ethan Moreschi. Family left behind include her five children, Jim (Saranne) Moreschi, Nora (Barry) Repman, Lisa (Dick) Aanderud, Vince,(Angela) Moreschi and Mary (Barry) McMenamen; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
