Floyd S. Davidson was born in St. Louis, Missouri to parents Sam and Beatrice [McKinney] Davidson on October 30, 1942. His family moved to Portland, Oregon when he was a young child and continued to be a lifelong resident.
Floyd attended Jefferson High School where he was an all-star athlete, excelling in football, wrestling, and track. He aspired to become a professional football player, but a broken collar bone ended his career. Because of his love of sports he later coached wrestling at Washington High School.
For over twenty years Floyd was involved in Law enforcement, becoming a Multnomah County Deputy Sheriff, Portland Public School Police and security at the Port of Portland.
Floyd is survived by his wife and soul mate of forty five years Donna Davidson.
His children, Deborah , Vickie, Rebecca, Floyd, Donyell, Dorinda ,Casandra, and his daughter [Stephanie who preceded him in death]
Floyd is also survived by his sisters Floretta Davidson-Taylor; Florice Davidson and Florine Sassnett. [His brother, Freddie L. Davidson, precedes him in death].
Floyd also had twenty-one grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and countless friends.
Floyd will always be remembered for his warm, engaging, calming and generous nature that he showed to his family and all who knew him. He had the kind of spirit and energy that drew people to him, that led to countless lifelong friendships, regardless of age. He was truly a man who felt comfortable in his own skin.
All of his children adored him, thinking of him as an “old fashioned parent.” He could be stern and direct but all he had to do was give you that look over his glasses and you knew exactly what he thought. Soon after, would be that trademark smile and his laugh that everyone can still hear. No matter what time day or night he was available for advice for any problems they might have.
Floyd truly loved his children and his wife and we knew it, every day, there was a hug a kiss and that engaging smile that will say with us forever. He protected us, loved us, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He lived life on his own terms until the end and we as his loving family let him.
Please be certain to visit Floyd's online guestbook located at this site. Thank you.
