

Frances worked as an usher at the Liberty Theater in Coos Bay while attending nursing school. It was there that she met a young sailor named Kenneth Davenport. The couple married on November 25, 1945 in Coos Bay.
After Ken was honorably discharged from the Navy the couple moved to Iowa where Ken attended Iowa State University. Frances and Ken welcomed two sons, Richard and Alan, while living in Iowa.
In the early 50’s, the family moved to Portland for a year where Ken worked at Tektronix before transferring to San Jose in 1954. In 1958 they welcomed their third son, Marshall. The family returned to Portland in 1961.
After their boys grew up Frances worked at a local clothing store in the Cedar Hills Shopping Center for a few years. She was an avid reader with an extensive personal library. Frances enjoyed knitting, loved music; she played both the piano and organ, and enjoyed the opera. She was also a baseball fan, attending Giants games at Candlestick Park during their time in San Jose, and enjoyed watching auto racing.
Frances passed away in Portland on August 27, 2016 at the age of 90. She is survived by her sons, Richard (Gloria), Alan (Pamela), and Marshall Davenport; nephew, Dennis Miller; grandchildren, Robert and Laura Smith; five great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and one great-great-grandson. Frances was preceded in death by her sister, Maxine Miller; and her husband, Kenneth Davenport.
A graveside service will be held at 1pm on Friday, September 2, 2016 at Skyline Memorial Gardens.
