

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Freddie Mae Garrett, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, who departed this life on September 13, 2024, at the age of 75.
Freddie Mae was born as Freddie Mae Baldwin Davis on April 1, 1949, in Jacksonville, Illinois, to her loving parents, Mary Francis Baldwin and Fred Bryant Davis. She was raised in Jacksonville, where she attended Jacksonville Public Schools and proudly received her high school diploma.
At a young age, Freddie Mae accepted Christ as her personal savior, a faith that would guide and strengthen her throughout her life. In 1984, she moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, with her young children, where she continued to build a life of love, hard work, and dedication to her family.
Freddie Mae married Carlin Whitaker, and together they welcomed their son, Denmark Whitaker. Though their paths later diverged, she remained steadfast in her role as a devoted mother. She later met Jimmie Adams, Sr., with whom she had her second son, Jimmie Adams, Jr. Freddie Mae worked tirelessly in various careers to provide for her family, instilling strong values of hard work, resilience, and love in her children.
Freddie Mae's life was enriched by her many hobbies and passions. She was an avid bowler, loved to take long walks, and had a keen eye for photography, amassing countless photo albums filled with memories and captions. She cherished her involvement in church, where her faith flourished. Freddie Mae had a special fondness for frogs, collecting them with joy, and she was a master baker and an enthusiastic collector of recipes. An ardent fan of the Denver Broncos, she proudly supported her team. Her love for fashion and shopping was always evident, and she found great pleasure in spending time with her family, which was her greatest joy.
Freddie Mae's journey led her to unite with Albert Garrett, Sr., with whom she shared her life until she relocated to Portland, Oregon, to be lovingly cared for by her family.
Freddie Mae is survived by her cherished children, Denmark Whitaker (Cheri) and Jimmie Adams, (Jamika); her treasured grandchildren, Donte’ (Jordon), DeVan (Maggie), Felisha, Kalia, Keion, JaVien, Corey; and her adored great-grandchildren, Kaydin, Rylee, Zenni, and Vaizey. Freddie was proceeded in death by brothers Bobby Baldwin and Edward Baldwin. She also leaves behind her dear sibling Sharlette Davis, along with a host of nieces and nephews and extended family and friends who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.
Freddie Mae Garrett will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her faith, and her ability to bring warmth and joy into the lives of those around her. She will be deeply missed but will live on through the love she imparted to her family and friends.
