

George Francis Bruck, 81 years of age, passed away peacefully at 10:25am on Friday, November 18th, 2016, at Senior Haven Residential Care Facility in Portland, Oregon. He was born on Tuesday, June 25th, 1935, in Portland, Oregon to Frank and Helen (Schwartzbeck) Bruck. George grew up in Portland, Oregon. He graduated Central Catholic High School in Portland, Oregon, on Sunday, June 7th, 1953. After high school he:
Joined the United States Navy on June 19th, 1953 until he was honorably discharged on January 11th, 1955. Then, he joined the United States Air Force on January 12th, 1955 and was Honorably Discharged on October 31st, 1960.
Attended Portland State University in Portland, Oregon, as well as Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon, where he studied ophthalmology. Worked several different types of jobs including being an assistant manager at Safeway, being a "bill collector" and a furniture mover. George even owned the Clinton Street Theater on 26th and Clinton...now famously known for showing the Rocky Horror Picture Show. He finally retired on May 21st, 1998, from T.N.T. Reddaway Trucking Company, in Clackamas Oregon. He worked there as a truck driver, starting on September 12th, 1977. He earned a safety award and was an avid supporter of the Teamsters Union.
George married Diane Lucinda Cartwright on Saturday, August 25th, 1973, at Kenilworth Presbyterian Church in Portland, Oregon. They were happily married for 43 years. George was a member of the Saint Philip Neri Catholic Church and the American Philatelist Society. He enjoyed feeding the ducks at the Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden, the birds and squirrels in his back yard at Creston Park, collecting and selling stamps, playing pinball, being buried in the sand at the beach while feeding seagulls, clipping coupons and snuggling with his dogs, wife and daughters. He also enjoyed watching scary movies like Predator, Alien and The Thing; old western movies and the National Geographic channel for hours on end. He also loved mathematics and anything science related! He would go to the local pond, scoop up "cootie" water and look at it under a microscope and love to show his family his findings!
When he was a youung boy, he enjoyed archery, swimming, marksmanship and was an altar boy at his church. He was also a Junior Assistant Scout Master with the Boy Scouts of America.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Helen, and his sisters, Tweetie and Marie.
George is lovingly remembered by his wife, Diane of Portland, Oregon, his two daughters, Ronda Eikenberry, of Portland, Oregon and Robin (Ben) Simmons of Oregon City, Oregon. His brother, Jim Bruck and sister, Dorothy Anne Bruck, both of Portland, Oregon, his grandchildren, Michael Eikenberry, George Eikenberry, Lauren Simmons and Zachary Simmons; and his nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A memorial service will be held at Lincoln Memorial Park and Funeral Home at 11801 SE Mt. Scott Blvd, Portland, Oregon 97086 at 11:30am, Friday, December 9th, 2016. Entombment will immediate follow. Pastor Ron Keeling will be officiating the services.
