Gerald earned a B.S. in Mathematics from Portland State University, where he met the love of his life, Mary Ann Calavan, they married on January 1st of 1981.
Gerald was a Software Engineer at Lockheed in California and Intel in Portland in the 1980’s and 90’s. He felt one of his biggest accomplishments was being able to retire at age 39.
He attended Calvary Chapel in Hillsboro, Oregon.
When he was younger Gerald enjoyed running and fishing. He was an avid science fiction and fantasy fan, enjoyed comedy and storytelling, and preferred humor over drama. Gerald was a man devoted to studying the Bible and loved medical research. He is remembered today as a peacemaker and someone who tried to help people with what he learned.
Gerald is preceded in death by and now reunites with his parents, Margot J. and Norman F. Kennedy.
Gerald will be dearly missed by his daughters, Elizabeth A. Kennedy-Midkiff (David) and Rebecca F. Kennedy; his son, Matthew G. Kennedy; grandson, Wilder E. Kennedy-Midkiff; sister, Rondi M. Radtke (Daniel); brother, Raymond E. Kennedy (Barbara); and by his loving wife of 44 years, Mary Ann Kennedy.
A Memorial Service will be held in Gerald’s honor at North Plains Christian Church, at 31231 NW Commercial St., North Plains, Oregon, 97133 at 11AM on September 13, 2025. The interment will be a private family gathering at Skyline Memorial.
