Jan. 27, 1998 - April 15, 2022
Grant Beckman passed away unexpectedly April 15, 2022.
He was born and raised in Portland, Ore., with so many gifts given to one beautiful human. Bright, quick-witted, full of humor and fun. He was kind and affectionate. He excelled at anything athletic and loved sports. His favorite was skiing which he learned at age three from his dad, keeping the family tradition. As a preschooler he wanted to play football like his big brothers, Brandon and Alex, so he wore their uniforms every chance he got until he could be on his own team. Growing up, there were many outings to the beach, Mt. Hood and Sunriver. In high school he played lacrosse and varsity football at Lincoln, where he graduated in 2016. As an adult, he loved to play basketball and video games, or go with his brothers and friends skiing, golfing, and target shooting. Grant worked in sales where he was promoted to management, and the last few years as a freight broker. He was a bit of a momma's boy, but the love of his life was his girlfriend, Emilie. Together they were a spectacular pair! Grant never missed family gatherings and came with hugs for all, including when he was with his friends' families who welcomed him like another son.
Grant leaves behind many devastated including his father, Wade (Sydney Cables); mother, Kris (John) York; brothers, Brandon (Meredith), and Alex (Julie); uncle, Blake; aunt, Karen (Roger) Black; and Martha Waley - all of Portland; grandparents, Carol and Bob Stockwell in Longview, Wash.; uncle, Jay (Cindy) of Cannon Beach; and nine cousins. Grandparents, Marvin and Marcia Beckman, and Dale Waley, have passed before him; and his infant brother, Connor.
A remembrance of his life will take place in Portland at 3 p.m., Thursday, May 5, 2022, at Grant's favorite hang-out, the Multnomah Athletic Club. Donations in his memory are welcome to be sent to: newavenues.org "There are only two lasting bequests we can hope to give our children. One of these is roots; the other, wings." We will forever yearn for the chance to see you soaring, Grant. You have left us far too soon.
