Guy and i were friends since they moved into Turtle Town

Guy is still fondly remembered here at CEE. The Blue Grass group that Guy invited to play here on Tue mornings are still going strong. 

Guy was remembered this week when the whole group played one of his favorite songs. He was also talked about & how much is presence is still missed.

We all hope Guy is leading a group of musicians wherever he might be. 

Guy Moore was a wonderful musician; a good friend and person who exemplified the “golden rule”.  I have known Guy for five years, and on many weeks, we would get together two or three times with other musicians to jam.   Guy loved playing, singing and most of all the social aspects of making music with others.  I loved how he would often turn to me before starting a tune and ask me to strum a chord, so he could start it on just the right pitch.  He would often join me when singing to sing the harmony part of the tune.  He had a great “ear”.  We also both enjoyed going to movies and most often we would discuss what we have seen and what the other person should avoid seeing.  As others have said, he was always welcoming to players regardless of their level of expertise and he led by example.  I’m happy that I got to play with him as often as I did, and I will miss his talent, humor and joy of living.  

Guy and I were next door neighbors in turtle town and continued our friendship until we graduated from HHS.  He wrote me a letter telling me not to marry this girl from Wisconsin but I did and 57 years later am still married and living in Wisconsin.  I always loved Guy and his family and it is a great loss. My prayers go out to his family.

Guy was the boss of me, but he never made me feel like he was.  He was the Dad of my best friend, and he constantly encouraged my bad behavior and naughty mouth.   I got to sit at his table for meals, music and stories and later I got to invite  him to my table for meals and stories.  I always felt safer knowing his phone number and he always made me feel like I was part of his family. That is a very good man indeed. I loved Guy and I will miss him always.

Guy was an inspiration to would-be musicians and always supported us, often giving praise when we got it right.  We will miss his kindly humor,  his energy in delivering a song or instrumental, and the sharing of resources.

It was truly a pleasure to have known Guy.  We played together at various venues around town and it was always a rewarding experience.  He will be missed.

We will miss Guy, he was always a joy to play fiddle tunes and sing songs with.  We always looked forward to him showing up at one of our jams, either at the old Malibu Tavern in Vancouver or Biddie's in Portland OR.  Our favorite song he sung was "I Still Miss Someone" by Johnny Cash.  How fitting, for he shall be missed by all his music friends.  Here is a picture of him singing that song.

Guy came to Bend a couple of years ago to see my band, HWY 97, and here he is happily dancing!

Guy was a very kind man and a talented musician. He was a good friend and mentor. At the Tue morning jams, even though his talents and skills greatly exceeded mine, he made sure to call pieces at a level and tempo that included everyone. He will be missed. 

I had only met Guy two or three times, but I am friends with the lady who was in his life, Laura. 
What I know of Guy is that he was kind, generous, often times very funny, loved his music, was  a very loving father to his daughters, and loved Laura.
I know that Laura's heart is full of love for Guy (and his daughters) and his passing has left an emptiness and void in her life.
May you rest in peace, Guy.

Guy moved into our 55+ community a little over 2 yrs ago.  Of course Guy was great to have around, we often sat outside on his front porch chatting & laughing. However one of the main things he did was create a weekly gathering of BG musicians in our clubhouse.  Many of our residents, have some health issues, so getting out to do anything is difficult.  Those Tue morning music circles brought so much happiness to everyone that lives here. For some it was the highlight of their wk , as it was the only time they were able to leave their home.  Many here are mourning his loss & what he brought to our community. 

Guy was a true gentleman & I'm glad I was able to get to know him as a friend.  I will also miss the fresh baked bread! 


  It was October 1966 Patrolman Moore saw a lost soul, who needed a big brother more than most could ever know.

I lost my Father in 1994.  SGT Guy Moore was my supervisor at that time. I  remember sitting at my Fathers service waiting for it to begin when in walked Guy Moore in full dress  MCSO greens. I was not expecting his attendance .  On a day so full of sadness,  it brought a warmth to me and a sense of gratitude that I knew and worked for a man of such caring and decency. I was and forever will be thankful to him for that gesture.
