In his youth, Harvey joined the Air Force, where he served in Korea. In 1957, Harvey married RoseAnne Heacock and the two went on to have four children. They were married for 39 years prior to her passing in 1996.
In 1968, the Maier family moved to Portland, Oregon where Harvey took a job as an assistant parts manager for Francis Ford. He spent the majority of his career working as a parts manager for Ford, retiring at the age of 60.
During his time in Oregon, Harvey’s heart was always in Montana, so later in life he moved back there only to return a year later after being reminded of just how harsh Montana winters can get.
Harvey was a very dedicated and hard-working man. He was a good provider for his family and took great pride and care in his home and yard. Harvey loved animals, especially dogs, and he was an avid fan of the Blazers.
He is preceded in death by his parents Herbert & Amelia Maier; brother Alvin Maier; wife RoseAnne Maier; daughter-in-law Robin Maier; and grandson Joshua Hoff. He is survived by his daughters: Vickie (Gerald) Hoff, Karla (Mark) Chan, Patricia (Keith) Jeffries; son Douglas Maier; longtime companion Lynn Simons, brother Gary (Shirley) Maier, sister Trudy (Harvey) Kirkegard, ten grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11am on Monday, May 13, 2019 at Lincoln Memorial Park, 11801 SE Mt. Scott Blvd., Portland, OR 97086
