

Ian James Dodge passed away on May 2, 2024. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Kaylin; their four children, Jordan, Harrison, Logan, and Marin; his mother, Sylvia; his twin, Greg; two brothers, Kevin and Keith; and many dear family and friends. He was predeceased by his father, James.
Born on February 23, 1969, Ian grew up in Malibu, CA. After marrying his wife, they settled in Portland, OR to raise a family. Ian completed his Bachelor of Science at PSU with a major in Speech-Communication and a minor in Sociology. He began a career in news at KPTV on the Good Day Oregon show as a writer and worked his way to becoming the executive producer. In 2008, Ian won an Emmy for his work in Morning/Daytime news. Later, he worked for Trimet operating buses, the Max train and finally, Portland Streetcar.
Ian was a man of many talents and his interests were diverse and multifaceted. Ian enjoyed playing the guitar or piano, singing, and listening to a wide range of music. A food enthusiast, Ian loved cooking elaborate meals from around the globe to share with family and friends and dining at favorite restaurants or trying new ones. Ian was a keen observer and kept up with the goings on in the world and often had commentary on his observations to share, sketch or journal. He was intelligent and knowledgeable about many subjects. Enamored with world travel in his teen years, various trips abroad over the years and a final jaunt to South Korea were highlights for him. Being an enthusiast of soccer and aviation, he enjoyed following various teams and plane spotting. No matter what caught his attention, his main love and passion was being with his kids, enjoying the time supporting their passions and being there alongside their journeys.
Ian’s wit and humor, creativity, and his depth of knowledge enriched our lives. Mostly it was his tender love for each of us, his family and friends that touched us all. Ian is greatly loved and dearly missed.
