Jack enjoyed playing golf, but above all else he loved music, both listening and playing. He was a multi-instrumentalist, proficient on the trumpet, the organ, the upright bass, and the harmonica. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during World War II.
He is survived by his son David Root & his wife, Kathleen; granddaughter, Jaclyn Henry; great grandson Tyler Henry; and his sister Jeane Hyat of Arcadia, Florida.
It was Jack's wish to have a simple send-off with no formal services, and his interment at Willamette National Cemetery will be private.
Arrangements under the direction of Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, Portland, OR.
